Our goal - more bikes and fewer trucks on the streets of Stockholm. Help MOVEBYBiKE fund our next cargo bike!

--We did it, thank you for your support! On monday we crossed the finnishline with 2,629 € on fundedbyme as well as 1800 € invoiced from one of our customers. Stayed tuned for news on our next bike!--

With 50% of our planet’s population already living in urban environments, urban transportation is facing some big challenges in terms of both logistics and environmental impact. Considering this number is projected to be close to 70% within the next 25 years, the challenges become more and more evident and urgent. Traditionally, solutions tend to favor more and larger roads for motor vehicles, but we believe there is great potential in cargo bikes.

Research

We seriously believe that we can change the way we move goods in and around cities. According to an EU co-funded study from cyclelogistics.eu, 51% of all goods delivered by motorized vehicles could go by cargo bike.

That's where we come in - with our different types of cargo bikes and trailers we can haul up to 300 kg or up to 3m³. We can even more entire apartments or offices - no problem.

The Plan

We have been running a chapter of MOVEBYBiKE in central Stockholm for one year and now we want to reach further out and set up another base so that more of Stockholm can get invaded by cargo bikes delivering goods instead of trucks. Now we need your help to fund our next cargo bike and create a better city.

Depending on how well our crowdfunding goes there are different sizes of cargo bike. Starting with a classic danish Bullitt cargo bike and onwards to the German Radkutsche Musketier like the ones we use daily in Stockholm today. (pictured below)

If the campaign is very successful and even surpasses our goal, we will order a large cargo bike like the green one pictured above. Its the same kind our colleagues in MOVEBYBiKE Malmö use. It will be used instead of our big trailers when we are moving apartments and offices or very large parcels. Estimated delivery is 4-5 weeks after the end of a successful campaign.

Risks and challenges

We have been up and running for one year and with great support from MOVEBYBiKE in Malmö and the rest of Sweden, we believe the risk of going out of business is low.

Winter

One of the biggest challenges when it comes to cargo bike transport and delivery is winter conditions. We just got through the worst winter weeks with very poor snow clearance (worst in ten years according to bike bloggers), with no delay or interruption to our distribution service in Stockholm so we feel confident that we can manage most winters.
