By Ida Wiberg — Björnbären is a German-Swedish daycare center. We serve children in the age of 12 months up to School age. We are now working on the startup of the kindergarten, and need all the help we can get from supporting people. As a parents‘ initiative we are an officially registrated non profit association.

When I along with my family moved to Munich for a couple of years ago, we quickly realized that it was very difficult to get a day care spot. When I later started investigating, I realized that there were a many Swedes in Munich. Many people with children! I along with other parents then started our project to open Germany's first Swedish-speaking kindergarten.
Many kindergarten in Munich's are profit company and a place for a child can cost over 15 000 Swedish kronor per month. A sum that very few are able to pay.
We want a day care with a focus on language development, which is accessible to all. A nursery with great parental involvement that welcomes all children, German and Swedish. We also want to spread the culture of Sweden in Germany.
We have worked on the project for over a year and now reached a stage where we found a local, and have set a start date in August.
We are in great need of sponsors and donors at this stage, because we have a lot of costs associated with the start. Friendly Swedes have already donated Swedish children's books and toys but we also need money in our cash to invest in renovation of premises, purchase of furniture and recruitment of staff.
Any contributions are gratefully received!
