Project location: Cabarete, Dominican Republic
This is the message that I've sent to a lot of people:
I'm a swedish woman and a nurse. My relation with Dominican Republic is 12 years old. I've been travelling all around the country alone since 2000. In 2001 I met a 3 year old boy, Eliseo. He's living under awful circumstances in a poor hood called Barrio Blanco. Ever since then I have tried to help him when I can and I have spent a lot of time with the people in Barrio Blanco. 2010 I was in Cabarete during the earthquake in Haiti. I went to Port-au-Prince to work voluntary for 7 weeks. This year I was in Cabarete in february and helped a medical clinic and 2 orphancies. At that time I met a man from Oregon, USA. His name is Ron Zauner. You can read all about him at www.providingopportunity.blogspot.com
I decided to join him in his project, POSI, and started a swedish foundation; Projekt Barrio Blanco, for collecting money and spread the message. Right now we have almost finished 18 homes and a building for a local school and a medical clinic.Still there are
7 families waiting for a new home. And there's needs for around 20-50 more.......The hood is so poor, even worse than many places in Haiti... I have a question to you: Is it possible to ask for some help to sponsor a
small home? The first family I'm thinking of is Mariano Rosario 51 and his "son" Christofer 8.
Mariano has been working harder than anyone in the project, only "in hope" of getting a sponsor. He adopted Christofer at 1 year old and is a loving father. His crummy little home fills with 2 feet of water, and he works sporadically as a welder. Christofer likes swimming and math, and Mariano is a warm gentle
Imagine: If they could know that you are their special
sponsor!!! What a happiness! A house and a special sponsor...... You could find more photos on my site at Facebook Annica Jonsson or Projekt Barrio Blanco
Thank you so much!
